Cancel your weekend plans from this October until May 2009 – the tracklist for Rock Band 2 has been released, and it’s huge. This is the real tracklist, not some internet fakery, and it comes straight from the source.

In an effort to keep Wii and PS2 Rock Band fans happy (what with the total lack of downloadable songs), Harmonix and MTV Games have put together Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 – an expansion to suit all your Stone Temple Pilots and Nine Inch Nails needs. The Pack goes on sale July 15 for the hefty sum of $29.99, but in exchange you get 20 songs and the vague assurance that there will be more Track Packs to come. So even if you don’t spring for Volume 1, keep your fingers crossed for Volume 2 – after all, you can’t stop the rock.

Finally Activision does something selfless. From May 2 to May 5, Guitar Hero III will host a charity challenge competition (on easy, medium and hard), benefiting the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation. Activision will donate $1 to the charity for every participant and $100 for every 1000 points of a challenger’s individual score. The Starlight Starbright Foundation helps sick kids and their families cope with the suffering of illness through family activities and entertainment (these are the guys who put out the celebrity-studded Tuttles Madcap Misadventures game last year).
