The world’s premier PC gaming magazine, PC Gamer UKhas been revamped, redesigned and relaunched – the firstfull rebootsince 1993 – to reflect the changing face of PC gaming.

We asked Ross Atherton, editor of the mag to tell us what’s new…

“In a world full of delicious websites such as, I dunno, GamesRadar for example, why would people spend cash on games magazines?,” Atherton asks (while simultaneously andunexpectedlymassaging our ego).

UK gets its own public game event ‘Game On! London’ (Nintendo Wii)

April 3, 2009

You might say that the UK is under-represented when it comes to public-access game events – shows where you can play previews of upcoming games and take part in multiplayer game tournaments. And pick up schwag.

The Germans get the yearly Game Convention, the Japanese Tokyo Game Show, the US the Penny Arcade Expo (regular punters still aren’t allowed access to E3) but gamers in the UK – not much, except the successful, but PC-centric PC Gamer Showdown.

CVG gets a shiny new relaunch! (Wii)

September 22, 2008

More big news for the GamesRadar family today folks. After a long, long tour of duty providing us with all of the on-the-minute gaming news you could possibly require,CVGhas officially joined the Radar network, bringing a classy new look and a streamlined design with it.

The oldest name in the gaming press, CVG (Or Computer and Video Games if you want to be puristic about it) has been fighting the good fight for top quality games coverage since 1981 – longer than a couple of Radar editors have even been alive – and we couldn’t be more proud to be part of its on-going evolution. You’ll still be getting the same great CVG content as ever, of course, but now it’s all wrapped up in an easier-to-read, faster-to-navigate site which puts the reader right at the centre of everything. The new site is understandably still in beta, but as it developes, the guys want as much community input as they can get in order to tweak, prune, add and shape things to be exactly as you want them.

The Force Unleashed gets comic & novel adaptation (Star Wars: Force Unleashed)

June 16, 2008

Proving you don’t need to make more Star Wars movies to keep the merchandising vehicle moving, Titan Books has confirmed that The Force Unleashed will receive both an official novelisation and comic book adaptation in the next couple of months.

From August 22, Star Wars fans – or anyone, for that matter – will be able to buy a graphic novel or a hardback book chronicling the story of Darth Vader’s secret apprentice.

Hopefully, we’ll also get to see exactly how a skin-head has the power to cause a Star Destroyer to crash whilst Yoda can’t even walk across a room without using a walking stick.

Guitar Hero IV gets song creation, multiple instruments (Guitar Hero IV)

May 17, 2008

Neversoft’s Guitar Hero IV will feature custom song creation and multiple instruments when it launches later on this year, says a US report.

According to Shacknews, the latest issue of Game Informer has spilled the first details on Guitar Hero 4. The forth title in the series will expand the musical peripheral offerings to include drum and vocal gameplay, in addition to bass and guitar.

The song creation process is a little unclear, but it sounds like the functionality will allow players to take the existing songs and modify the heck out of everything but the vocals. So you CAN put a thirty minute guitar solo in Hotel California, if you so desire.
