Nintendo’s director of public relations Marc Franklin has said that core gamers should expect great things from the company at E3.
“We will be announcing several new titles that core gamers will be interested in around the time of E3,” he told GamePro recently.
Speculation has run rampant about Nintendo’s release schedule near the end of this year. We’re crossing our fingers for more Pilotwings, Starfox or Pikmin action.
Whilst the first half of 2008 was full of goodness in the form of Mario Kart and Smash Bros, the post-June line-up is looking a bit bare. Nintendo looks set to rectify this at E3.

Two Warcraft III players will march the prestigious Olympic torch on its way to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
There’s no word on where or where Jae Ho “Moon” Jang and Li “Sky” will join the procession, GGL Wire reports (cheers Kotaku for the tip off). Apparently, professional StarCraft player Junchun “Pj” Sha will be also be along for the ride, along with fellow RTS-er Lei “Leilei” Shen. Pro gamers of the world unite!
The Olympic torch’s progress to Beijing has been marked with protests all across Europe and in the US. Here’s hoping the gamers don’t have anything heavy thrown at them…

Mario creator and Nintendo VIP Shigeru Miyamoto has defended criticism that Nintendo is moving further away from videogames with Wii Fit, claiming it expands the gaming population.
“What Wii Fit represents and what Nintendo is trying to do with Wii Fit is expand the gaming population,” Miyamoto said in an interview with MTV.
“And the reason that is important for them is because as more and more people of different ages start playing – even if it’s just games like Wii Fit – their understanding of what video games are and the fact that they’re even playing games is going to better their understanding of what gamers are.
